The Food Bank Singapore

This week, the Singapore team volunteered at the Food Bank warehouse where they sorted pallets of incoming food donations. Food Bank Singapore is a charity that sources and rescues more than 800,000 kgs of food annually for a network of beneficiaries such as families in need, various types of homes, soup kitchens and religious establishments.

The volunteers spent a productive two hours working as a team to sort through donations of rice, oil, instant noodles, tinned food and other household staples while checking expiry dates before scanning them into the Food Bank inventory and placing them on the itemised shelves for distribution. It was disheartening to hear from the Food Bank that their donations are 60% down this year and we are considering ways we can help them moving forward.
